MAWU
Guided healing journeys back to the body, the heart, and the soul.
Healing & Retreats
Named after the West African goddess of the moon and creation, MAWU symbolizes healing, wisdom, connection, and remembrance.
Founded by Pamela Schaap, a Ghanaian-Dutch holistic practitioner, MAWU is a retreat and healing practice inspired by West African ancestral wisdom. Pamela weaves together holistic healing approaches and creative practices to create transformative experiences that guide people back to their body, spirit, and authentic self.
Together with Alexa Kaptein — retreat co-facilitator and space holder — Pamela organizes transformational retreats and deep inner journeys in Ghana. Guided by the ubuntu principle – “I am, because we are” – she seeks to connect people with themselves and the world around them, grounded in the belief that we are all part of a collective consciousness.
At the core of MAWU is the belief that the body holds memory, emotion, intuition, and wisdom. Through healing sessions, retreats, and art workshops, participants are guided back to their essence: releasing what no longer serves them, reconnecting with their authentic self, and remembering their essence.
